We have designed and built additions to many semi-detached homes in the Waverley, Randwick & Mosman council areas and in Sydney's inner west. Here are just a few.

The challenge with semis is to maximise living and storage areas whilst working from a very limited footprint. The design has successfully met this challenge, and at the same time introduced a sense of open space and made full use of available views.
In order to meet the client's brief for a light, airy feel, the design incorporates a raked ceiling upstairs and large bi-fold doors downstairs; the effective use of glass contributing to the required outcome. In addition, and despite the limitations of a small yard, the owners were able to achieve their own goals for sustainability through measures such as a water retention system and solar heating. High-quality finishes were called for throughout and the workmanship has presented these superbly: Blackbutt floors - Blue Gum deck - Cedar windows - Travertine tiles in the bathrooms - stone tops in the kitchen. The evidence of quality continues with the step downs to wet areas and shower recess, use of solid core doors and Expanda foam used around all windows to prevent drafts. |

Despite the limitations due to its small footprint, the addition and alterations to this semi-detached dwelling are both attractive from the street and stunning internally.
From the feature staircase to the vaulted ceiling and sky windows, the interior appears surprisingly spacious; while externally, the design harmonises well with the streetscape and the re-development that has occurred on the adjoining semi. |
